We just can’t take anything seriously.

After the CEO of UnitedHealthcare was assassinated in the streets of Manhattan, the collective response was “...what, you expect us to care?”

It turns out, enough people have been royally screwed over by healthcare companies in the U.S. that they felt like the UnitedHealthcare CEO’s killing was, if not justified, just a *little bit* like payback for the $22 billion the company made off people’s suffering in 2023 alone. This may be why, when UnitedHealthcare posted about the death of their CEO on its Facebook page, the post accrued more laughing reactions than any other.

This also may be why people are having a hard time getting too upset with the killer. For example, when the public was given the opportunity to ask Luigi Mangione questions, they instead opted for a Nintendo joke.
